November 4th 2010 - ONE DATE FOR ALL!
The November 2010 nutritionDay is open for the western hemisphere (nutritionDay US and nutriDia) but also for those who missed the January nutritionDay 2010. Since then it is planned to keep the November as a month for ND in the following years.

Attention: the nursing homes (NH) questionnaires will be enlarged with a new sheet (2b) which contains the "Mini Nutritional Assessment" screening tool (MNA®)!

We prodly announce that from now on China will be a participaing country of ND! For November we plan to provide the sheets for ND in hospitals in 30 languages.

From now on the final unit reports for ND and hospitals and preliminary unit reports for ND ICU are available for download. Until today more than 19.300 patients' and residents' data were tranferred to the online database - Thank you very much to all participants!

As usual the resident list (filled in on nutritionDay) has to be completed and the data is forwarded either online (database will be open until 10th of September 2009), via conventional postal mailing or e-mail to the nutritionDay office. Thank you for finalising data collection of nutritionDay in nursing homes 2009!

nutritionDay goes US!
After Japan in 2008 the project now reached the United States. nutritionDay in the US will be presented and promoted at the upcoming ASPEN Clinical Nutrition Week in Chicago by Ms. Gail Gewirtz.
Mrs Gewirtz will be the national project coordinator in the US. We are more than happy to have such a decdicated and ambitious partner! NutritionDay in the US will take place on November 5th 2009. How does your institution profit from participating in nutritionDay?
You will receive a report comparing the current status of your unit with the same speciality in all participating units. Intra-European comparison data can be used for benchmarking. The comparison of results from previous years enables you to identify how successful any improvements you have made have been.

A pocket sized nutritionDay notebook is available. Each booklet provides enough space for entries and includes project information in two languages. The booklets are available for € 3.- per exemplar and can be ordered at the nutritionDay office in Vienna (please contact office@nutritionday.org).

For those who submitted data until April 15th 2008 the feedback sheet is now available online. It consists of a list of data we kindly ask you to revise. Use the possibility to add or correct data online until June 17th 2008! You can also add any late data (eg outcome) that you might want to include. Please help us to provide you with the most accurate final unit report.

Outcomes for nutritionDay in ICU must be evaluated 60 days after nutritionDay (beginning March 31st). Please complete the unit patient list. Information should be gathered from your centres patient administrative system. Do not contact the patients themselves. Transfer data as usual online or send the sheets to the nutritionDay office in Vienna.

We offer combined analysis of nutritionDay data for centers who participated with more than one unit. Center reports are available for 2006 and 2007 data. If you are interested in having your center report contact the office (office(at)nutritionday.org) until October 12th at the latest. Please be aware that those units from longterm-care units, which
participated in the nutritionDay 2006 and which will now switch to
"NutritionDay in nursing homes" need to order new codes.

The nutritionDay in Nursing Homes will take place on the 25th of january 2007. If you cannot manage participation by that date, nutritionDay in Nursing Homes can alternatively be held on 22nd of february 2007! English and german questionnaires are available now (see questionnaires).

"1-2-3 nutritionDay ICU" and the "nutritionDay in Nursing Homes".

Motto for the nutritionDay 2007: “FIND A FRIEND” (from Pat Howard, UK). There are two concepts in this motto. First participate again to check for the status of your unit (stable, change) in comparison with similar units, your “nutritionDay Friends”. This may help you in requesting support and ressources. Second to invite “New Friends” that are less involved in nutrition care to participate. These “New Friends” can benefit from your information and experience. The aim is to open clinical nutrition care to non-specialists.
